The boys’ water polo teams from Crescenta Valley High and Glendale will both play in CIF Southern Section Division VI semifinal matches at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday at William J. Woollett Aquatics Center with the third-seeded Falcons facing off with No. 2 seed Rio Mesa and the Nitros set to play top seed Webb.

Crescenta Valley, which won the CIF championship last year will rematch the Spartans team it defeated in the 2008 final, while Glendale is making its first semifinals appearance since 2000.

If both teams advance, it will be the first time in area history that two local programs meet for a CIF water polo championship.
