Hoover High 'H'

The Hoover High School emblem above Brand Boulevard appeared damaged in an apparent prank attempt Nov. 4.

A week before the long-standing rivalry football game between Hoover and Glendale high schools, the ‘H’ on the hillside above Brand Boulevard appears to have been vandalized.

Several people called in to the Glendale News-Press this morning and yesterday to report what appeared to be a prank on the white Hoover High School emblem, but upon closer inspection, it seems as if the vandals were unable to complete the transformation from an ‘H’ to a ‘G’.

The rivalry between the schools goes back decades and there have been numerous pranks pulled on both campuses over the years. But several callers yesterday, even Hoover High fans, said the latest attempt was the grandest attempted feat yet.

The ‘H’ yesterday appeared damaged in areas that, if fully erased and rearranged, could have spelled a ‘G’ for Glendale High.
