From the Burbank Leader:

A 57-year-old Arcadia man sustained serious injuries this morning after he was struck by a slowing Metrolink train at the Burbank Downtown/Magnolia Boulevard station platform, police said.

Witnesses told Burbank police that the man, who has not been identified, appeared to step in front of Metrolink 110 at about 9:17 a.m. as it prepared to stop, was struck and then thrown back onto the platform.

He was treated at the scene for head trauma and a compound fracture to his leg before being transported to the Los Angeles County Hospital USC Medical Center, where he is expected to recover from his injuries, Burbank Police Lt. John Dilbert said.

The man appeared to intentionally step in front of the train as it braked to a stop, “which ultimately saved his life,” Dilbert said.
